Privacy Policy

Hooky ("Hooky", "we", "us") is an app that automatically edits your talking videos. This policy explains what data we collect, why, who we share it with and how long we keep it.

1. What we collect

Some data stays only on your device: your project list, thumbnails, onboarding answers and upload queue.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your videos or transcripts to train AI models, and we instruct our AI providers not to either. Deepgram requests are sent with model-improvement opt-out. Anthropic does not train on API data by default.
2. Analytics and ads — your choices
- Tracking: iOS asks before any app may track you. If you decline, your advertising identifier is not shared.
- Share usage data: In Settings you can turn off "Share usage data". When off, app events are no longer sent to Google Analytics, Meta or TikTok.
- In the EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland, ad measurement by Meta and TikTok runs only with your consent.
3. Legal bases
We process your data to perform our contract with you (editing your videos, running your account and subscription), based on our legitimate interests (security, fixing errors, improving the app), with your consent (tracking, ad measurement where required) and to comply with legal obligations. These bases also apply under Türkiye's KVKK (Law No. 6698).
4. How long we keep data

Save your finished videos to your device. After the periods above they can't be recovered.
Deleting your account: Settings → Delete account. This deletes your account, projects, stored videos and the subscriber record at RevenueCat. Some steps may take up to 7 days to finish. We may keep limited records where the law requires it (for example security logs and payment-event records). Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Cancel it in iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
5. Who we share data with
These service providers process data on our behalf, each only for the purposes above:
- Google Cloud: hosting and storage, USA
- Deepgram: speech-to-text, USA
- Anthropic: AI editing, USA
- Third-party AI services: speech-to-text and edit decisions. Your audio and video are processed only to make your edit and are never used for advertising.
- RevenueCat: subscriptions
- Apple: payments
- Google Analytics for Firebase, Meta, TikTok: analytics and ads
We may also disclose data when the law requires it.
6. International transfers
Our servers and providers are mainly in the United States. Your data is therefore transferred outside Türkiye and the EU. We rely on the safeguards these providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses, and on your explicit consent where KVKK requires it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (KVKK, GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA and similar laws), you may have the right to:
- access your data
- correct it
- delete it
- restrict or object to processing
- receive a portable copy
- withdraw consent
Write to privacy@hookycut.com. We answer within 30 days. You may also complain to your data protection authority; in Türkiye that is the KVKK Board.
8. Children
Hooky is not intended for children under 13 (under 16 in the EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has used Hooky, contact us and we will delete the data.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored with access controls. Uploads use short-lived signed links. No system is perfectly secure.
10. Changes
We will post changes here and update the date above. For significant changes, we will notify you in the app.
